BATON ROUGE — Season tickets for the 2006-07 LSU women’s basketball campaign are being sold at a record pace with only a few days left until the regular season begins.
As of Wednesday morning 2,963 season tickets have been sold, a record number for a women’s basketball season at LSU.
The Lady Tigers, the two-time defending Southeastern Conference champion, defeated Loyola, 90-47, and Lake Truck, 67-39, in the two exhibition games.
The regular season gets underway on Sunday when LSU hosts West Virginia at 2 p.m. CST in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The game kicks off the four-team three-day Basketball Travelers Classic. Howard and Virginia Tech complete the field that includes games on Monday and Tuesday.
Season tickets are still available, but single game tickets will be on sale starting with Sunday’s game.
LSU, ranked 10th in the preseason USA Today/ESPN/WBCA poll, also hosts No. 5 Tennessee, No. 7 Ohio State, No. 8 Connecticut, No. 9 Georgia and No. 16 Kentucky, and as well as SEC foes Florida, Alabama, Arkansas and Auburn during the regular season.
