Clark Again Named to SEC Good Works Team

BATON ROUGE — For the third straight year, LSU student-athlete Melody Clark was named to Southeastern Conference Volleyball Good Works Team, it was announced by the league office on Monday.

The senior from Colorado Springs, Colo., is the two-year president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, where she is involved in many community service projects.

Clark helps to organize the annual Halloween BOOzar in October, which allows children the opportunity to trick-or-treat in a safe environment, while meeting and participating in activities with LSU student-athletes from all sports.

In addition, the middle blocker helps with the annual Christmas Toy Drive, which provides underprivileged children with gifts for the holidays through the Catholic Community Services. She participated in the 4-H University on campus, where students from around the state came to LSU to learn what it was like in college, exposing the students to the many opportunities available in collegiate life.

Clark has also made speaking appearances at local elementary schools, discussing with the students the importance of teamwork, staying in school and staying away from drugs and alcohol. She also aided in the MDA Strides and Rides campaign to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and has made visits to the pediatric unit at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital.

The SEC sponsors Good Works Teams for all 20 league sponsored sports. The Good Works Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to her community with superior service efforts.
