BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s basketball team won two games over the weekend and moved up one spot in both the Associated Press media and ESPN/USA Today coaches’ polls announced by the outlets on Monday.
LSU is now sixth in both polls after spending the second week at No. 7 in both polls. LSU defeated Nicholls State, 96-42, on Friday at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center and then put an 88-57 decision on Louisiana-Monroe on Sunday.
The Tigers will take on 24th-ranked Wichita State (3-0) on Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Maravich Center. Tickets for $11 each are available online at www.LSUsports.net or at the LSU Athletics Ticket Office. Tickets for youth, age 3-12, can be bought in the upper level for the game for just $5.
Wichita State is ranked 27th in the coaches poll, missing by 12 points.
Florida remains on top in both polls with North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Ohio State and UCLA ahead of LSU in the AP poll and North Carolina, Ohio State, Pittsburgh and UCLA the 2-5 order in the ESPN/USA Today poll. Alabama is up to eighth in AP and nine in ESPN/USA Today, while Dec. 5 opponent Texas A&M is 10th in the coaches and 11th in the media poll.
