LAFAYETTE, La. — The LSU men’s tennis team picked up five quality wins during the first day of the Ragin’ Cajun Classic at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.
Danny Bryan advanced to the semifinals of the red singles bracket and Eric DeRoche and Kevin Dessauer advanced to the quarterfinals of the doubles bracket.
“Danny handled some tough conditions with the weather today, but he handled it well,” LSU head coach Jeff Brown said. “Picking up two straight set wins back to back like that was a great start for him.”
With two wins today Bryan improves his season record to 9-2 and will now face Dusan Tabak of Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
DeRoche and Dessauer advanced to the quarterfinals of the doubles bracket by handily defeating Lamar’s Tyler Cobb and Brett Sticker, 8-3. The doubles win was the fourth of the season for the Tiger tandem. They will now face Southeastern’s Julien Lousao and Vlad Paunic on Saturday at 3 p.m.
DeRoche and Dessauer each picked up a win in singles, but were eliminated in the quarterfinals.
“DeRoche and Dessauer played well today, but they don’t have much experience as a team yet and they need to work on some things before tomorrow’s match,” Brown commented.
