PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. — The LSU women’s tennis team competed in doubles play at the SEC Coaches Classic on Thursday and will begin singles play on Friday.
In flight “A” doubles play, sophomore Mykala Hedberg and junior Staten Spencer fell to the No. 1 seed from Vanderbilt, Amanda Fish and Amanda Taylor, 8-3.
In consolation play they fell to Georgia’s Monika Dancevic and Lara Fakhoury, 9-7. They will continue play against Nicole Briceno and Mari Muller of Alabama.
In flight “B”, freshmen Nicole Kantor and Ashley Murdock lost to Vanderbilt’s Liberty Sveke and Courtney Ulery, 8-2. In first round consolation play they received a bye. In the semifinal round, they fell to Arkansas’ Melissa Hoffmeister and Namar Airapetian, 9-7.
In singles play, Hedberg will face Megan Alexander of Florida in the “A” flight.
In the “B” flight, Kantor will face Tennessee’s Ghizela Schutte and Spencer will face Auburn’s Whitney Chappell.
In the “C” flight, Murdock will face off against Arkansas’ Nanar Airapetian.
Freshman Sloane Mathis will compete in the “D” flight against Kentucky’s Whitney Spencer.
Play begins Friday at 10 a.m.
