Davis Named First-Team Preseason All-America by Rivals

BATON ROUGE — LSU junior forward Glen Davis was named a first-team All-American by Rivals.com Monday in an All-American team list weighted heavily toward the Southeastern Conference.

Six of the 15 players selected on the three preseason teams are from the SEC, including three on the first team.

Joining Davis in the frontcourt are Joakim Noah of Florida and Tyler Hansbrough of North Carolina. Of Davis, Rivals.com writes: “No post player was more consistent last season. The 6-9 Davis averaged 18.6 points and 9.7 rebounds a game, scored in double figures all 36 games and racked up 16 double-doubles. Expect better numbers from “Big Baby” this season. He dropped more weight in the offseason, and at 289 pounds looks to be in the best shape of his career.”

In the first team backcourt are Ronald Steele of Alabama and Dominic James of Marquette.

The second team consists of: Acie Law of Texas A&M and Aaron Afflalo of UCLA in the backcourt with Alando Tucker of Wisconsin, Al Horford of Florida and Nick Fazekas of Nevada in the frontcourt.

The five on the third team are: Sean Singletary of Virginia, Chris Lofton of Tennessee, Corey Brewer of Florida, Josh McRoberts of Duke and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute of UCLA.
