BATON ROUGE — LSU dropped out of the top 10 in the Associated Press poll for the first time this year as the Tigers fell to No. 14 in the AP Top 25 after Saturday’s 23-10 loss to Florida.
LSU, now 4-2 overall and 1-2 in Southeastern Conference play, return to action on Saturday when they host Kentucky (3-3, 1-2) at 7 p.m. in Tiger Stadium.
The Tigers also lost ground this week in the USA Today Coaches Poll as well as the Harris Interactive Poll. LSU dropped from No. 10 to No. 16 in the coaches poll and from No. 9 to No. 16 in the Harris poll.
LSU is the highest-ranked two-loss team in either of the polls and the Tigers and Oklahoma are the only two-loss teams in this week’s top 25. LSU’s two losses this year have come to No. 2 Florida and No. 11 Auburn.
Ohio State continued its hold on the No. 1 ranking as the Buckeyes stand at the nation’s top-ranked team in all three polls.
Other SEC teams in the polls include: Florida at No. 2 in the AP Poll and No. 3 in the USA Today Coaches Poll and the Harris Poll; Tennessee at No. 8 in the AP and Harris polls and No. 9 in the USA Today Coaches Poll; Auburn at No. 10 in the USA Today Coaches Poll and the Harris Poll and No. 11 in the AP Poll; and Arkansas at No. 17 in the AP Poll, No. 22 in the Harris Poll and No. 23 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
