Football Completes Final Day of Split-Squad Practices

BATON ROUGE — Rain-soaked fields forced the LSU veterans indoors on Thursday as the Tigers wrapped up their final day of split-squad practices with a pair of workouts here at the Charles McClendon Practice Facility.

The LSU veterans practiced inside for the first time since fall camp began on Monday, while the Tiger rookies finally dodged afternoon rain showers to practice outdoors for the first time.

Both practices had the Tigers working out in shells (helmets and shoulder pads) and saw the continued installation of the playbook on both sides of the football.

“It’s looking really good,” LSU running back Jacob Hester said following the veteran practice on Thursday. “The first couple of days were really hot so you couldn’t tell because of the fatigue, but as it goes further along in camp you can tell that we had a really good summer. Practice is going crisp and we are really ahead of schedule.”

LSU will practice in full pads on Friday for the first time as the entire team will workout at 9 a.m. The Tigers will practice twice on Saturday before holding Media Day and Fan Day activities on Sunday.

LSU opens its second season under head coach Les Miles on Sept. 2 when the Tigers host Louisiana-Lafayette at 7 p.m. in Tiger Stadium.
