BATON ROUGE — The LSU ticket office and Marketing & Promotions Department have announced the creation of season ticket packages for fans of the soccer team who wish to reserve their seats at the LSU Soccer Complex for the 2006 season.
This marks the first season that a season ticket package has been available for the soccer team as fans can purchase tickets for all 10 home games for the low price of $50. Seats will be located at midfield in the Press Box Section, and packages can be purchased online at www.LSUsports.net.
“LSU soccer has shown tremendous growth in its fan base over the last few years, and the result has been the demand for reserved season tickets for home games this season,” said promotions manager Jenni Peters. “We expect that to continue for years to come with the caliber of student-athletes that (head coach) Brian Lee and his staff have recruited.”
The Tigers welcome three NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago to Baton Rouge led by nationally-ranked Texas on Sept. 13. LSU opens SEC play against Vanderbilt on Sept. 22 and also have a match scheduled against Florida on Oct. 22. The Longhorns, Commodores and Gators all advanced to the first round of the NCAA Tournament in 2005.
The Tigers will compete with perhaps their most talented lineup in the 11-year history of the program as seven starters return from last season and the team welcomes the nation’s seventh-ranked recruiting class to campus in the fall.
The returnees are led by senior Joleen Phillips, junior Caroline Vanderpool and sophomore Melissa Clarke. Phillips is the team’s top returning scorer, while Vanderpool has competed for much of the summer with the U-20 Canadian National Team and Clarke earned Second-Team All-SEC honors a year ago.
“We’re excited about the potential this team has for the upcoming season, and it should be exciting for the fans to come and see the girls play,” Lee said. “Our fans are tremendous and are definitely excited about the prospects of the Tigers competing for an SEC title and a berth in the postseason for the first time.”
