BABSON PARK, Fla. — Bill Heath, Director of Athletics at Webber International University has announced former LSU men’s basketball player Jerry Reynolds as Associate Head Men’s Basketball Coach.
Reynolds joins the Warriors coaching staff after a glittering two-time professional basketball career.
Reynolds is a native of Brooklyn, N.Y. where he attended Alexander Hamilton High School. He was selected as first-team All-City, and was the Public School Athletic League MVP in 1981. Reynolds also holds the distinction of playing in the first, nationally televised High School basketball game, where he was awarded the MVP.
Coach Reynolds went on to attend Louisiana State University where he made an immediate impact and was selected to the All-Freshman team. During his stay in Baton Rouge, Reynolds garnered All-SEC honors in his sophomore year, before declaring himself eligible for the NBA draft.
The Milwaukee Bucks selected Reynolds 22nd overall in the 1985 draft where he played three seasons before moving to the Seattle Supersonics, and then finally to the Orlando Magic in the expansion draft.
After retiring due to injury in 1992 Reynolds pursued other business ventures before announcing his comeback three years later. Reynolds made history by returning to the NBA; one of only very few people to do so. He rejoined the Milwaukee Bucks in 1995 to become a two-time professional in the league.
Reynolds officially retired from basketball after playing two seasons in Italy’s top league, and then joined the Webber Warrior staff in 2005. In addition to his role on the men’s basketball staff Reynolds has also become the Fitness Center manager on campus.
