Track & Field Completes Day 2 of the Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas — Three of LSU’s field event competitors set personal bests on Thursday as the Tigers and Lady Tigers completed a very successful opening two days of events in the 79th Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.

Sophomore Rabun Fox turned in a regional qualifying mark of 190-8 in the men’s hammer throw, a new personal best.  Fox currently holds the seventh best throw in LSU history, improving his previous mark by two feet.

Tiger Edwin Billot turned in a two-day point total of 7,468 in the men’s decathlon, moving him into eighth place on LSU’s all-time performance list. The Beaumont, Texas, native was just 32 points shy of the regional mark in his first multi-event of the season.

Lady Tiger Megan Akre finished fourth in the women’s heptathlon, setting a new personal best along the way. The senior’s two-day point total of 5,352 moves her into tenth place all-time in LSU history.

The four-day meet will continue tomorrow as running events get under way at 9:30 a.m. with the women’s 4×100-meter relay from Mike A. Myers Stadium.
