Swimming and Diving Welcomes Nationally-Ranked Florida

Men’s Swimming & Diving Sweeps Delta St., 125-88

CLEVELAND, Miss. — The LSU men’s swimming and diving team won all 13 events en route to its first dual-meet victory of the season, a 125-88 decision over Delta State on Saturday at the DSU Aquatic Center.

The last four events of the meet were swam as exhibitions by the Tigers.

LSU’s top two 400 medley relay teams placed first and second with the “A” team enjoying a comfortable margin of victory at 3:23.01.

Freshman Julius Gloeckner continued to show why he is one of the conference’s best young swimmers. Gloeckner won the 1000 freestyle (9:50.60), the 200 butterfly (1:51.30) and the 500 freestyle (4:42.35).

Miko Malberg tallied a pair of individual victories after helping the Tigers win the 400 medley relay. Malberg enjoyed first-place times in the 50 free (20.91) and 100 free (47.01).

Justin Corvin captured the 200 free (1:43.80), while Matt Coenen and Kevin Braud had top times in the 200 breaststroke (2:06.68) and 200 backstroke (1:50.81), respectively.

Joseph Veron was tops in the 200 individual medley (1:56.75).

Justin Corvin, Sven Schneider, Connor Farber and Ryan Ashby formed a winning swim to close the meet in the 400 free relay (3:09.47).

The Tigers enjoyed their best 1-meter diving performance of the season on Saturday. All three divers scored top marks, including Niko Dalman, who won the event with a tally of 338.63. Dalman earned the highest score as an exhibition in the 3-meter (348.75), as well.

LSU returns home for its season finale against Texas A&M at noon on Saturday, Jan. 21. Ashby and Coenen will be honored during Senior Day festivities. Admission is free to the LSU Natatorium.
