BATON ROUGE — The LSU volleyball team received a National Letter of Intent for Thurgood Marshall High School product Brittnee Cooper, it was announced by Tiger head coach Fran Flory on Tuesday.
The 6-3 middle blocker from Houston earned three letters in volleyball and three in basketball. She is a two-time first-team all-district selection and two-time second-team all-district honoree. Last season, she led the Houston area in blocking.
“Brittnee is a force at the net both with her blocking and offensively,” said Flory. “She is a gifted athlete that will certainly contribute very early both in offensively and defensively. She fits into our system very well and is a prototype of the middle blocker that has been very successful in the SEC. We are very excited to have her join our program.”
The honor roll student was selected the Most Valuable Player for her volleyball team twice and for her basketball team once. In addition, she was selected a Duchess for her senior class and earned the Buffalo Soldier award for basketball.
The daughter of Mary Alfred, she led her Houston Juniors 16 Nationals club team to a fifth place finish in the Junior Olympics in 2004.
