COLLEGE STATION, Texas — LSU’s men’s tennis players Ken Skupski and Colt Gaston will face off Sunday in the finals of the Wells Fargo Hurricane Katrina Relief Tournament.
Skupski propelled himself into the finals with a, 6-4, 7-5, win over Texas A&M’s Mohamed Dakki. Meanwhile, Gaston outlasted LSU teammate Danny Bryan, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.
LSU head tennis coach Jeff Brown was excited by the play of both Gaston and Skupski on Saturday.
“Colt had to play extremely well to beat Danny and it was exciting to see him play at that level,” said Brown. “It was also really good to see Ken finally get on a roll.”
In doubles play, Tigers Paul White and Eric DeRoche squeaked by Jonah Kane-West and Nigel Barton of Tulane, 9-8 (6).
“This was a good weekend for us,” said Brown. “This is a nice way to wrap up the fall season.”
