DESTIN, Fla. — The LSU women’s golf team gets back to action Friday hoping to find the consistency it has been trying to find in the Chrysler Challenge at the Raven Course at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort.
The 54-hole, three-round event is scheduled to run through Sunday and for the first time this season, the Lady Tigers are expected to play in near perfect weather conditions.
An all-SEC field joins host Florida State with LSU joining Alabama, Florida, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and South Carolina in the event. The Raven course is a par 71, 5,937-yard course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., with water on 11 of the 18 holes.
LSU will have one new face in the lineup as senior Vicky Meyer of Brazil will make her season debut for the Lady Tigers joining sophomore Kim Meck and Rebecca Kuhn and the South African junior twins, Melissa and Nicola Eaton. Alexis Rather, a sophomore from Tupelo, Miss., will also play as an individual participant in the tournament.
“We are excited about playing on a great course, in wonderful weather, and I hope the girls are ready to start grinding from the first shot,” said LSU Coach Karen Bahnsen. “We have not been sharp coming out at the start and we need to be able to go from start to finish to be successful.”
This is the third of four fall tournaments for the Lady Tigers and the first of back-to-back weekends of play to conclude the fall portion of the women’s golf season.
