TULSA, Okla. — LSU’s top ranked doubles tandem, Ken Skupski and Mark Growcott, were knocked out of the Polo Ralph Lauren ITA All-American Championships on Friday.
Skupski and Growcott began the day by defeating the nation’s No. 24 doubles team, Georgia’s Colin Purcel and Strahinja Bobusic, 8-5, before loosing to No. 10 ranked Andreas Slijestram and Marco Born of Middle Tennessee, 8-6.
LSU associate head coach Mark Booras said, “Ken and Mark got a good win this morning over a strong team, but this afternoon it came down to the wire. They just couldn’t pull it out. We have a good idea of what we need to work on from here.”
Skupski did advance to the quarterfinals of the singles consolation bracket when his opponent, Josh Cohen, was unable to play. He will face Oklahoma’s Mark Velicka on Saturday at 9 a.m.
The Tigers’ Colt Gaston and Danny Bryan were also defeated in doubles consolation action on Friday. The pair dropped an 8-6 decision to Brett Joelson and Bryan Wooten of Texas A&M.
