Tigers Tennis Continues Play at Rice Invitational

HOUSTON — The LSU men’s tennis team completed a successful second day at the Rice Crowne Plaza Invitational, highlighted by the play of Danny Bryan and Colt Gaston.  Bryan and Gaston won their second straight match of the season, defeating Rice’s team doubles team of Filip Zizojinovic and Ralph Knupfer, in second round doubles play.

Bryan and Gaston, the nation’s No. 27 ranked doubles team, will move on to face the team of Ben Harknett and Hoony Shin in the third round of A bracket doubles competition.

Both Gaston and Bryan logged straight set wins in second round singles competition, and now will face each other in the round three.  Additionally, Tiger senior Paul White defeated South Florida’s Marc Jeager 7-6, 6-0 in B bracket action and, William LaFerve defeated Jon Greenberg of Rice, 6-3, 6-3, in C bracket play.

White will face Virginia Tech’s Nicholas Delgado in round three of the B bracket and, LeFevre will face Rice’s Take Morita in third round of the winner’s C bracket.

Each of the Tigers in Houston will play again on Sunday.
