STANFORD, Calif. — The 30th-ranked LSU men’s golf team finished the NCAA West Regional at Stanford Golf Course on Saturday in 24th place with a three-day total of 66-over par 906.

Senior Brandon Aydlett birdied the final two holes of his LSU career to lead the Tigers with a 5-over 75 in the final round, finishing the tournament in a tie for 107th with an 18-over 225. Aydlett finishes his career a three-year letterman with 18 tournament appearances and a 74.66 career stroke average.

Sophomore All-SEC performer Chris Wells was the low Tiger of the weekend by tying for 61st with a 10-over 220, while freshman Beck Troutman also finished in a tie for 107th along with Aydlett. Freshman Brent Struthers and sophomore Garrett Runion finished in a tie for 120th and 137th, respectively.

Top-ranked and No. 2 seed captured the team title by three strokes over New Mexico with a 6-over 846. Rounding out the top 10 and advancing to the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship in Baltimore, Md., are Washington, UCLA, Arizona State, BYU, San Diego State, Arizona and Stanford.

Rob Grube of tournament host Stanford overcame a five-stroke deficit in the final round to win medalist honors by three strokes over Kevin Chappell of UCLA and Nathan Lashley of Arizona with a 6-under 204, including a 5-under 65 on Saturday. Second-round leader Oscar Alvarez of BYU finished four shots back in fourth place with a 2-under 208.
