BATON ROUGE — LSU will go through its final scrimmage of the spring on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in Tiger Stadium as first-year coach Les Miles and his staff will be on display to the public for the first time.
Gates to Tiger Stadium open at 11 a.m. with action expected to start at about 11:30. Tickets for the spring scrimmage are $5 and can be purchased at the LSU Ticket Office or on the Internet at www.LSUsports.net.
Fans are reminded that all seating for the scrimmage will be in the north endzone due to the construction in Tiger Stadium. As a result, fans can enter the stadium through gates 6, 7, 8, and 9.
Miles said Saturday’s scrimmage will be controlled in nature, but will include many “live” snaps for the first and second units. Miles said he expects 55 “live” snaps for the first team and close to that number for the second unit.
Miles said the scrimmage will feature the No. 1 offense going against the No. 1 defense and the No. 2 offense facing the No. 2 defense. Miles also stated that a portion of the scrimmage will be dedicated to all phases of special teams.
“The best players are going to lineup and face the best players on the other side of the ball,” Miles said. “It gives you more of an opportunity for the players to compete evenly. Doing it this way is also best for the development of this team.”
The scrimmage is just one of a handful of events on the LSU campus on Saturday. LSU’s nationally-ranked baseball team hosts Ole Miss at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Alex Box Stadium, while the Tiger softball team welcomes Ole Miss to Tiger Park for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
Fans are reminded that you can gain free admission to the LSU-Ole Miss softball doubleheader on Saturday by presenting your spring game ticket at the ball park.
Fans can also receive a $5 discount on any purchase of $25 or more at the Tiger Gift Center. The discount runs through Sunday, April 17 and is good only at the Tiger Gift Center temporary trailer location, which is off Skip Bertman Drive next to the LSU Soccer Complex.
