Lady Tigers Crack Top-10 Heading into SEC Championships

BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s golf team, on the heels of a win in the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic and a strong second place finish in the 18-team Liz Murphey Classic at the University of Georgia has cracked the top 10 in the most-recent Golfstat Women’s rankings.

The Lady Tigers are ranked 10th heading into the Southeastern Conference Women’s Championships at the Tunica National Golf Course in Tunica, Miss., April 15-17.

LSU, with two wins this season, and a 10-6 record against the top 25 this season, is one of four teams in the Golfstat Top 10 and six in the top 25.

Duke, with six wins this year and a 24-0 record against the top 25, is top-ranked followed by Georgia, UCLA, Arizona State and Pepperdine. In the second five are Washington, Auburn, Tennessee, Oklahoma State and LSU. Tulane is currently listed at 12 with Florida 14 and Arkansas is 20th.

Four LSU golfers, Melissa Eaton (9), Rebecca Kuhn (11), Vicky Meyer (14) and Brooke Shelton (15) are ranked in the top 15 golfers in the Southeastern Conference.

Last year in the SEC Championships at the University Club in Baton Rouge, LSU finished in a tie for second at 17-over par 881, four shots behind Vanderbilt at 877.
