ATHENS, Ga. — LSU posted its second straight 300 score and stands in third, eight shots out of the lead in the Liz Murphey Collegiate after two rounds Saturday at the University of Georgia Golf Course.
LSU freshman Rebecca Kuhn, looking for her third straight top 10 finish is just one shot out of the lead after 36 holes with a one-over 145 total.
LSU has a 36-hole total of 24-over par 600, with Georgia in the lead at 16-over 592. Tulane moved one shot ahead of LSU with a 23-over 599. It’s one more shot back to fourth as Auburn is in at 25-over 601.
Kuhn followed a two-over 74 on Friday with an even par of 72 on the lengthy Georgia course and stands in a group of four tied at two-over 146, one shot behind leader Lindsay Hulwick of Tulane, who also shot even par 72 to stand at one-over par 145 after 36 holes.
LSU had consistent scores for the second straight day with Brooke Shelton getting a second straight 75 to stand in a tie for 14th place at six-over 150. Melissa Eaton had a second round 76 and Vicky Meyer and Kim Meck both shot second round 77s for LSU.
“We have hung in there pretty well this weekend and now we are in a position to make a run at the title on Sunday,” said LSU Coach Karen Bahnsen. “But our guys are doing a good job of not paying attention to what other teams are doing and worrying about their own play of the golf course. It has made a big difference in our scores. Rebecca is playing very well and we look forward to the final round.”
The teams will conclude the tournament on Sunday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
