BATON ROUGE — For the first time this dual-match season, the LSU women’s tennis team finds one of its players ranked in the ITA singles poll, with Amanda Mang coming in at No. 99.
Mang, a senior from New Orleans who plays at the No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles position for the Lady Tigers, returns to the rankings after being listed at No. 120 in the fall poll.
She owns a 5-7 record in dual matches this season, including seven contests against ranked opponents. She kept most of them very close, but fell short of a victory until the team’s match against Georgia.
In that outing, Mang defeated Shadisha Robinson, at that time ranked fourth in the country, in two sets, 6-4, 7-5.
Mang will battle two more top-ten opponents this weekend in her No. 41 Lady Tigers’ matches at No. 3 Kentucky and No. 8 Vanderbilt, hoping to improve her mark.
