BATON ROUGE — LSU head soccer coach Brian Lee finalized his coaching staff Thursday, naming Florida International assistant coach Daniel Brizard as the Tigers’ new assistant coach.
Brizard has been a member of the Florida International coaching staff for the past three years coaching goalkeepers and helping with other aspects of the game.
“We are very excited about Daniel coming to the program,” said Lee. “We feel Daniel is arguably the top goalkeeper coach in the South and one of the best goalkeeper coaches in the country. We also feel like he can do more than that for our program.”
Brizard has coached with Lee before as both currently serve on the Region III ODP staff.
“Daniel has gotten great experience with Everton Edwards at Florida International, who is really an icon in women’s soccer,” said Lee. “He is more than ready to come in and assume a role with the program. He is really as good as it gets.”
Prior to his time at Florida International, Brizard spent time at South Alabama and the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Brizard has also coached girl’s soccer at Parkway West High School in St. Louis, Mo.
As a player, Brizard was a four-year starter and team captain at Berry College in Rome, Georgia from 1991-1995.
Brizard earned his bachelor’s degree in Sports Performance/Exercise Science from Berry College in 1995. Brizard also spent two years in the Navy before he started coaching women’s soccer. He is married to the former Julie Schneider of St. Louis, Mo.
