BATON ROUGE — LSU forward Glen Davis Tuesday was named to Freshman All-America teams selected by Rivals.com and Collegeinsider.com.
Davis averaged 13.1 points and 8.7 rebounds per game for the Tigers, 19-8 and co-champs of the Southeastern Conference Western Division with a 12-4 record. He also shot 51 percent from the floor and finished 19th in the league in scoring and fourth in the league in rebounding. He was third among SEC freshmen in scoring and was the league’s leading freshman rebounder.
On the Rivals.com freshman team Davis was part of a first-team that included Jordan Farmar, point guard from UCLA; Daniel Gibson, guard, Texas; Darius Washington, guard, Memphis, and Marvin Williams, forward, North Carolina.
Three SEC players — Toney Douglas of Auburn, Chris Lofton of Tennessee and Rajon Rondo of Kentucky — were named to the Rivals third team.
The Collegeinsider.com teams picks 21 players with no team designations. Joining Davis from the SEC on the list of 21 All-Americans is Auburn’s Douglas.
