Women’s Tennis Looks to Rebound Against No. 26 South Carolina

BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s tennis team looks to rebound from a 7-0 loss to No. 2 Florida on Friday in its match with 26th-ranked South Carolina at 1 p.m. Sunday.

The Lady Tigers are now 6-3 overall (0-1 Southeastern Conference) and 5-1 at home.

South Carolina owns a 6-0 record heading into the contest and is just one spot from the Top 25. Their last match was a 6-1 win at Arkansas on Friday.

After once again losing a tough match, Lady Tigers senior Amanda Mang is ready for a win. Staten Spencer and Lauren Seaman, who have only lost one and two singles matches, respectively, will also look to earn their first conference win.

“South Carolina is a beatable team, we just need to believe in ourselves,” head coach Tony Minnis said. “We lacked a lot of confidence against Florida, and we need to have it to beat South Carolina. It’s going to be a battle.”

They are led by senior Danielle Wiggins and sophomores Christyn Lucas and Laura Ganzer. All three came out victorious in singles play against Arkansas.

The match closes out the first weekend of conference action for LSU before they play host to Georgia and Tennessee next weekend.
