Tigers Return Home to Face Ole Miss

BATON ROUGE — The LSU Tigers return to what they hope will be the continued friendly confines of the Pete Maravich Center Wednesday night to host the Ole Miss Rebels at 7 p.m.

There is no television for the broadcast, but the radio broadcast will be available on the LSU Sports Network (Eagle 98.1 FM in Baton Rouge) and on the internet at www.LSUsports.net.

Tickets remain on sale all day Wednesday at the LSU Athletics Ticket Office and online at www.LSUsports.net. for $12. Tickets on the game night will be sold at the upper concourse ticket windows of the Maravich Center beginning at 5:30 p.m. Some lucky fan will win a trip for two to Las Vegas later this spring for the Academy of Country Music Awards, courtesy of Guaranty Broadcasting.

LSU comes into the game with a 9-6 overall record and a 2-2 mark in the Southeastern Conference, while Ole Miss is 11-8 and 2-4 in the league. LSU is coming off an 89-58 loss at Kentucky on Saturday, while Ole Miss fell to Alabama, 66-58, Saturday in Oxford.

The Tigers are 8-1 at home this season and won three straight in its most record homestand against South Carolina, Ohio State and Arkansas. There is no doubt the Tiger team appears more comfortable at home and the numbers and wins back that theory up.

“It’s great to come home,” said LSU Coach John Brady. “Our team has played well as of late here. The crowd has helped us out. The students are in school and hopefully they will come out and help us out on Wednesday. Our team is excited about playing at home and it is a game, that if we play well, we think we have a chance to win and hopefully that will be the case.”

The Tigers starting five continues to dominate the scoring for LSU with all five starters remaining in double figures. LSU should go for the 15th consecutive game with Tack Minor (11.4 ppg, 5.8 apg), Darrel Mitchell (13.2 ppg, 2.9 apg) and Antonio Hudson (13.4 ppg, 3.3 rpg) at the guards and Brandon Bass (16.9 ppg, 8.5 rpg) and Glen Davis (13.7 ppg, 8.7 rpg) at forward.

The Tiger perimeter will be looking to snap out of its funk of the last two games, shooting less than 25 percent from three point range, after shooting around 39 percent going into last week. Davis, the leading rebounder in the league games, will be trying to go for his fourth double-double in the last five games and his fifth consecutive game in double figure rebounds.

Tommie Eddie has led Ole Miss in scoring in both games last week in Oxford. In the 53-50 loss to Kentucky, Eddie had 14 points and against Alabama, the Brooklyn, N. Y., senior scored 16 points. Eddie averages 12.2 points a game.

The Tigers remain at home Saturday for a 2 p.m. game against Mississippi State.
