ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The LSU women’s tennis team completed play in the Michigan Invitational on Sunday highlighted with a sweep in doubles play over Eastern Michigan.
Tiffany Tucker and Lauren Seaman teamed to beat Elizabeth Syrova and Yana Parfenyuk, 8-2. Marina Chiarelli and Staten Spencer also won, defeating Catherina Bestahorn and Flavia Micati easily, 8-1.
The singles portion of the competition did not turn out as well for the Lady Tigers, as they were swept by Georgia Tech in seven matches. Amanda Mang battled the No. 55-ranked player in the nation in Tech’s Kelly Anderson, but fell in two sets, 6-3, 6-2.
Freshman Tiffany Tucker also took on a ranked opponent in No. 46 Lyndsay Shosho. She won the first set, 6-2, but could not pick up another set win, losing the next two, 2-6, 4-6.
“Georgia Tech just played a lot better than us today,” coach Tony Minnis said. “Now we just need to regroup and get ready for the regular season.”
The next action for the Lady Tigers will be the beginning of the dual match season against Centenary and UL-Lafayette on Jan. 22.
