BATON ROUGE — Three former LSU standouts have landed spots on the Pro Bowl roster, the NFL announced on Wednesday.
Offensive lineman Alan Faneca, center Kevin Mawae and defensive back Tory James were all named to the AFC squad for the game that will be held in Honolulu on Feb. 13.
Faneca, a member of the 13-1 Pittsburgh Steelers, will make his fourth Pro Bowl appearance, while Mawae, the starting center for the New York Jets, will participate for the sixth time.
James, a starting cornerback for Cincinnati, earned a trip to the Pro Bowl for the first time after recording 56 tackles and seven interceptions for the Bengals.
Faneca earned All-Southeastern Conference honors for LSU in 1996 and 1997, while being named first team All-America in 1997. Faneca was also a finalist for the Outland Trophy in 1997 before being a first round draft pick of the Steelers in the spring of 1998.
Mawae played four years for the Tigers, earning first team All-SEC honors in 1992. He was later drafted in the second round of the 1994 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks.
James played on both sides of the ball during his four-year career with the Tigers and was later selected in the second round of the 1996 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos.
