ANN ARBOR, Mich. — LSU’s doubles team of Ken Skupski and Mark Growcott earned a spot in the consolation finals of the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Tournament with a win on Saturday.

“In doubles Ken and Mark played with great focus and good enrgy, which helped carry them through the match,” said LSU associate head coach Mark Booras.

They will play tomorrow for a chance to win the consolation bracket.

Skupski lost his singles consolation match, 6-4, 6-4, to Lars Poerschke of Baylor.

“Ken’s opponent played extremely well today,” Booras said. “He just.brought a little too much to the table.”

The Tigers competing in the Texas A&M invitational improved on their day one performance. LSU won all three doubles matches and three singles matches against Oklahoma.

“I think we played better tennis and competed at the same strong level as yesterday,” said LSU head coach Jeff Brown.

Jason Hazley and Danny Bryan won their singles matches in the top of the lineup. Jonathan Howard won his second straight singles match, the only Tiger to win both singles matches of this tournament.

“It was good to see good to see Jason and Danny come back strong.to get back in their winning form,” Brown said.

Tomorrow LSU takes on Texas A&M in their final competition before the spring.

“This is going to be a great way to end the fall season,” Brown said.
