Four Named to 2004 LSWA All-Louisiana Soccer Team

BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s soccer team had four players named to the 2004 LSWA All-Louisiana Women’s Soccer Team it was announced Sunday by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.

Artie Brown, a Baton Rouge native, was selected to the first team along with forward Stacy Bishop of Land O’ Lakes, Florida.

Brown finished her career with 40 goals and 92 points as she set the LSU career records in both. She lead the team with 14 goals and 31 points this season, finishing second in the Southeastern Conference in both categories. Earlier this month Brown was named a first team All-SEC selection for her efforts.

Bishop led the team in shots with 92 and had seven assists on the season. She finished third in the SEC in points with 25 and ranked fourth in the conference in assists.

Senior midfielder Chelsea Agar and freshman keeper Valerie Vogler were both honorable mention selections.

Agar, a native of Courtenay, B. C., tallied two goals and an assist for the Tigers this season. She was also named to the SEC Good Works team, the 2004 SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year and a first team Academic All-American.

Vogler, a freshman from St. Louis, Mo, led the team with two shutouts and 61 saves this season. She was sixth in the conference with a 1.27 goals against average.
