BATON ROUGE — LSU student-athlete Melody Clark was named to the second annual Southeastern Conference Volleyball Good Works Team, it was announced by the league office on Thursday.
The sophomore from Colorado Springs, Colo., is a representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, where she is involved in many community service projects.
Clark helps to organize the annual Halloween BOOzar in October, which allows children the opportunity to trick-or-treat in a safe environment, while meeting and participating in activities with LSU student-athletes from all sports.
In addition, the middle blocker helps with the annual Christmas Toy Drive, which provides underprivileged children with gifts for the holidays through the Families First program.
Clark has also made speaking appearances at local elementary schools, discussing with the students the importance of teamwork, staying in school and staying away from drugs and alcohol.
The SEC sponsors Good Works Teams for all 20 league sponsored sports. The Good Works Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to her community with superior service efforts.
