BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s basketball team plays its second and final exhibition game Monday at 7 p.m. in the Pete Maravich Center against the Houston Sports Group.

Tickets for the game are $5 each and available at the upper ticket windows of the Maravich Center beginning at 5:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast in the Baton Rouge area on campus radio station KLSU-FM (91.1 FM).

The Tigers, winners 62-52 in their first exhibition contest Nov. 9 against EA Sports, open the regular season on Friday in The LSU Louisiana Classic against Tulane at 8 p.m. The tournament, which also features Louisiana Tech and Louisiana Lafayette, concludes with winners and losers meeting on Sunday.

In the first exhibition game, the Tigers got 14 points from Darrel Mitchell and 12 from Tack Minor and Glen Davis as LSU won by jumping out to leads of 11-0 and 19-5 before allowing EA Sports to get back in the game, cutting the lead to three right after the start of the second half. But LSU got the lead back to as much as 17 before settling for the final margin. Ross Neltner led LSU with 11 rebounds.

Since then, the Tigers have had four practices in preparation for the game and they are beginning to put some of the final touches in on the offensive plan for the tournament opener.

The Houston Sports Group will be playing its first exhibition contest and the team feature several former college players both recent and from as far back as the early 1990s. Included on the roster are two players who spent some time at LSU — Louis Earl and Terrence Simmons. Earl was at LSU for two seasons, while Simmons played for one year before transferring to Minnesota.

“Again, we want to be able to try to put the practice into the game,” said LSU Coach John Brady. “We scrimmaged on Friday and hope to be able to continue to move forward.”
