Good Second Round Moves Lady Tigers into Fourth

DESTIN, Fla. — After starting out in seventh place on Friday, the LSU women’s golf team moved into fourth place after day two of the Chrysler SEC/ACC Challenge on Saturday at the Raven Course of the Sandestin Resort and Golf Club.

Auburn leads the 16-team tournament field made up of eight SEC and eight ACC teams after shooting an amazing second round score of 13-under par 271. The Lady Tigers, ranked 10th nationally in the NGCA poll, posted a six-over 290 and stands 26 shots off the lead.

Duke is in third place at 578, while Mississippi State stands in fourth at 584, just five strokes ahead of LSU with one day remaining.

Diana Ramage of Auburn is the individual leader at eight-under par 134. LSU sophomore Melissa Eaton was the best finisher for the Lady Tigers after shooting a two-under par 69 to move into a tie for fourth place after day two at even par 142.

LSU’s Kimberly Meck is tied for 26th after shooting a four-over par 75 on Saturday to move to seven-over 149 for the tournament. Rebecca Kuhn stands in a tie for 31st place with two-day eight-over par 150, while Brooke Shelton shot a two-over 73 on Saturday to move into 35th place with a nine-over 151. Vicky Meyer also shot a two-over 73 to tie Shelton in 35th place at 151.

Sunday’s final round, a shotgun start, of the 54-hole event begins at 8 a.m.
