BATON ROUGE — The LSU soccer team will complete its 2004 season on Sunday when the Tigers face cross-town rival Southern University at the LSU Soccer Complex at 1 p.m. in the Mayor’s cup.
“I think this is an important game especially for our seniors,” said LSU co-head coach George Fotopoulos. “I think it would be good for us to go out on a good note like we did Friday against Arkansas. It would be good for our seniors to go out with a win on senior day.”
LSU (7-11-1, 2-8-1 SEC) will honor six seniors on “Senior Day” as they come into the game off of their second win in conference. Southern (5-10-1) has won two of its last three games defeating Alcorn State and Alabama State. The Tigers are currently on a 19-game winning streak against non-conference opponents at home.
Baton Rouge native Artie Brown set the career goals and points record with her two-goal effort in the Arkansas game. Brown leads the team with 12 goals and 25 points, and has 38 career goals and 86 career points.
LSU’s senior class- Chelsea Agar, Artie Brown, Robyn DesOrmeaux, Suzanne Drake, Danielle Keath and Christine Haman, who is graduating in the spring, will be honored in a ceremony before the match. Mayor Bobby Simpson will be on hand for the game.
