BATON ROUGE — The LSU soccer team spent the past week going out in the community and meeting local fans and giving back to the community.
“Giving back to the community is something that is great about our team,” said LSU co-head coach Danielle Fotopoulos. “The girls do an excellent job of giving back to the community. They go out to the YMCA, the mall and they just get out there and get to know people.”
The team went to St. Elizabeth Hospital Saturday morning and held a clinic for the kids. They also went and visited some of the patients while they were there.
The Tigers were also at the Mall of Louisiana on Thursday, Oct. 14, handing out tickets and signing posters. The players also made a stop at the YMCA on Friday to hand out schedules and tickets.
“I think that the community service we do is why the support for our soccer program is great in Baton Rouge,” said Fotopoulos. “Not only do we have LSU football fans out here, but we have LSU Tigers out here fighting for our program and doing all they can for our program.”
The soccer team will also be making appearances at Independence Park this week and next week as they will be handing out tickets and schedules.
The Tigers will this weekend at home against Florida on Friday at 7 p.m. and on the road Sunday at South Carolina.
