COLUMBUS, Ohio — The LSU women’s soccer team (4-1) is looking to rebound from their game Friday night as they take on Dayton (4-1) Sunday at 11:30 a.m. EST in the Buckeye Classic at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The Tigers were shutout against Ohio State losing 4-0 in a game where the Buckeyes dominated.
“After Friday’s game we need to refocus and get ready for Dayton because they are a good team,” said LSU co-head coach George Fotopoulos. “You can’t spend any time thinking about the Ohio State game. We need to get ready for Sunday’s game.”
This is the first meeting between the two schools and also the first Atlantic 10 opponent that LSU has faced all-time. The Dayton Flyers defeated Virginia Tech 2-1 on Friday in a game where they had to come back from an early deficit. Dayton is 0-1 against SEC schools this year losing to Florida 3-2 in their first game of the year.
“We will be making some changes and changing up our game plan for the Dayton game,” said Fotopoulos. “We just need to go out there and get a win.”
LSU will go on the road again next weekend as they travel to Boulder, Colo, to play in the Colorado Classic hosted by the University of Colorado. The Tigers will take on Colorado on Friday, Sept. 17 and Wyoming on Sunday, Sept. 19.
