BATON ROUGE — LSU head track and field coach Pat Henry was named the Mondo Women’s Mideast Region Coach of the Year it was announced Friday by the United States Track Coaches Association.
Henry guided the Lady Tigers to their second straight Mideast Regional title in dominating fashion last weekend at Bernie Moore Stadium. LSU tallied an impressive 111 points to topple runner-up Tennessee who finished with 65 points.
The Lady Tigers, who automatically qualified 13 athletes and a relay team to the NCAA Championships, were also winners of four individual event regional crowns.
The regional honor marks the first of Henry’s career. Earlier this year Henry was named both the Men’s and Women’s Indoor National Coach of the Year after guiding LSU to the first-ever sweep of team gold at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Henry will attempt to lead LSU to an unprecedented four NCAA titles in one season, June 9-12, when the Tigers and Lady Tigers travel to Austin, Texas for the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
