BATON ROUGE — The No. 20-ranked LSU women’s tennis team won its fifth straight match Thursday, 5-2, over 40th-ranked Tulsa.
The Lady Tigers (14-6, 5-5) swept the doubles point and promptly rolled off four singles wins to take the match from the Golden Hurricane.
Rocio Fantilli and Lauren Seaman picked up a big win over 30th-ranked Daniela Muscolina and Ilona Summers at No. 1 doubles. Marina Chiarelli and Jessica Ferguson won their third straight match at the No. 2 spot.
Muscolino got revenge in singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Ferguson at No. 1 singles. Ferguson had won her prior three matches en route to being named this week’s SEC Player of the Week.
Fantilli had another win over a ranked opponent at No. 2 singles. She topped No. 81 Summers, 7-5, 6-3. Amanda Mang added a fourth win to her current streak at the No. 4 spot. Seaman won her fifth consecutive match at No. 5.
The Lady Tigers will return to conference action Saturday at 1 p.m. against Arkansas. LSU can win the SEC West if they top the Lady Backs. For more information on that match, check LSUsports.net.
