BATON ROUGE — LSU’s Kristin Schmidt was selected Louisiana Pitcher of the Week, while Tiger shortstop Lauren Delahoussaye earned Louisiana Hitter of the Week honors, as announced by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association on Tuesday.

Delahoussaye, a sophomore from Lafayette, went 6-for-13 (.462) on the week with a double, two home runs, six runs scored and six RBIs for a 1.000 slugging percentage as the Tigers posted a perfect 4-0 record. She led LSU offensively in their first three-game sweep over No. 7 Alabama in Tuscaloosa in school history.

In the doubleheader on Saturday, she recorded a pair of two-run home runs along with six RBIs. In the series finale on Sunday, they pitched around her in three of her four at bats as she was walked three times, twice intentionally and once on a four-ball count, with runners in scoring position. In her only at bat, she grounded out and snapped her career-best seven-game hitting streak.

Schmidt posted a 2-0 record with a save against No. 7 Alabama on the week. She threw a complete-game in the series opener, allowing just a two-run home run that ended the shutout bid in the sixth inning. In the second game, she came back with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning with a runner on to record the final out of the game and earned the save. In the series finale, she gutted out a win after the Tigers were forced to pinch hit their No. 2 pitcher in the fourth inning because of an injury.

This is the first Louisiana Hitter of the Week honor for Delahoussaye. She is the fourth LSU player to be named the Louisiana Hitter of the Week this season, joining teammates Leslie Klein, Stephanie Hill and Leigh Ann Danos. This is the second Louisiana Pitcher of the Week honor for Schmidt this season.
