COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The Tigers and Lady Tigers were back in action at the Texas A&M Multis Thursday after winning the NCAA Indoor Championship last weekend. Megan Akre and Dianne Harrison found themselves at the top of the standings in the women’s heptathlon after day one.
“Dianne and Megan both competed very well,” said Assistant Coach Boo Schexnayder. “To see them compete that well in their first heptathlon of the year is very encouraging.”
Megan Akre finished first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.53. She also finished second in the 100-meter hurdles (14.96) and the high jump (5-4 1/2). Dianne Harrison placed first in the shot put with a throw of 40-4 1/4.
For the men, both Kwami Roberts and Gavin Fleming competed in the men’s decathlon gold division. Kwami Roberts finished first in the 400- meter dash with a time of 49.50 and third in the 100-meter with a time of 10.94. He is currently fourth in the standings in the men’s decathlon.
The meet continues tomorrow with the completion of the men’s decathlon and the women’s heptathlon.
