COLUMBIA, S. C. — The LSU women’s golf team struggled in the second round of the Lady Gamecock Classic Saturday at the USC University Club and dropped from fourth to seventh place in the 11-team tournament.

The Lady Tigers shot a round of 317, 29-over par, to go with the 311 in the first round to stand at 628, 52-over par for the first 36-holes of the 54 hole event. North Carolina remains the leader in the event at 29-over par 605, with rounds of 303 and 302. North Carolina was the winner last week of the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic.

South Carolina is second, two shots behind North Carolina at 31-over par, while the gap between second and third is 12 shots as Texas is at 619. Furman is at 620 in fourth with Wake Forest and Washington tied for fifth.

Ashley Prange of North Carolina, the winner last week of the Cleveland Classic, followed up her one under 71 with a two-over 74 and stands at one over 145 after 36 holes. Adrienne Gautreaux of South Carolina and Katie Miller of North Carolina are tied for second at three-over 147.

Melissa Eaton, one of the freshman twins from South Africa, shot the best round of the day for LSU with a three-over 75, while Vicky Meyer had the other LSU round in the 70s with a 79. Eaton stands 11th on the standing board with a 154, 10-over par, while Brooke Shelton at 156, 12 over, is also in the top 20 in a tie for 19th place.

The final round is scheduled for Monday.
