BUDAPEST, Hungary — Former LSU track All-American Alleyne Francique won his first major 400-meter title Saturday, taking home gold at the IAAF World Indoor Championships.

Francique, a two-time NCAA champion and six-time All-American while competing for the Tigers, fought off a fierce homestretch attack by Jamaica’s Clarke Davian to claim top honors with a season-best time of 45.88. Davian finished second in 45.92 to complete the 1-2 Caribbean finish.
