DALLAS — Southern Methodist handed the Lady Tigers their first loss of the season Wednesday in the form of a 5-2 upset in SMU’s Haggar Stadium.
The loss came in the Lady Tigers first match away from home this season and snapped a six-match win streak.
SMU (4-4) clinched the doubles point with two 9-8 wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Rocio Fantilli and Amanda Mang kept their record perfect, easily beating Svetlana Kouzmenko and Kit Carson, 8-1, at No. 1 doubles.
The Lady Tigers’ only bright spots in singles were wins at No. 2 and No.6 from Mang and Lauren Seaman. Mang was forced into a tiebreaker but pulled out the win over Carson, 6-3, 6-7, 10-6.
Seaman kept her dual match record spotless with a 7-6, 6-3 win over Brooke Rambally.
The Lady Tigers will try to recover Sunday when they head to Tallahassee to take on Florida State.
