BATON ROUGE — LSU shut out Louisiana Tech and Southern in Wednesday’s doubleheader, improving to a 4-0 record for the young dual match season.
The 49th-ranked Lady Tigers have not lost a doubles match in dual play yet. Amanda Mang and Rocio Fantilli are 4-0 together this season after beating La. Tech’s Holly Ready and Monica Kelley, 8-2, and Southern’s Francisca Osedumme and Kelli Nabors, 8-1.
Mang rolled over both singles opponents, including a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles over Ready.
Camila Caliari won her first two singles matches of the dual season. She found herself down 3-0 in the second set of her first match against the Lady Techsters’ Anabella Duque, but battled back to win the set and the match, 6-1, 6-4.
Caliari also won both her matches at No. 3 doubles with Lauren Seaman. Jessica Ferguson and Marina Chiarelli also won their matches at No. 2 doubles, also moving to 4-0 in dual play. The Lady Tigers gave up just two games in doubles play against Southern.
Lauren Seaman also had a tough second set against Tech. She won the first set easily over Avril Martinez, but had to battle for a 7-5 win in the second set.
The Lady Tigers will face a tougher opponent Sunday when No. 42 Purdue comes to Baton Rouge. The match begins at noon.
