BATON ROUGE — LSU senior forward Jaime Lloreda has been named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week for his efforts in LSU’s wins over Tulane and UAB last week.
Lloreda has help lead the Tigers to an 8-0 start and last week in the two wins, he posted his fourth and fifth double doubles of the season. He posted 22 points and 10 rebounds in LSU’s 67-48 win over Tulane and had 22 points and 11 rebounds in the Tigers’ 78-62 victory over UAB at the Nokia Sugar Bowl Basketball Classic.
Lloreda currently leads the SEC in scoring (22.0 ppg) and rebounding (11.9 rpg) and ranks third in field goal percentage (62.9%).
This marks the second SEC Player of the Week honor for Lloreda, his first coming just over a year ago on Dec. 23, 2002. It marks the 10th time an LSU players has received the honor since the 1994-95 season.
LSU puts its perfect record on the line Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. at Houston’s Hofheinz Pavilion against the University of Houston.
