BATON ROUGE — LSU’s 16th-ranked Lady Tigers got 40 point performance from their bench and five players scored double figures en route to 97-47 victory over Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday afternoon in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
Doneeka Hodges led the way for the Lady Tigers (8-2) with 20 points and five assists, while Seimone Augustus added 15 points and five assists. Temeka Johnson had 14 points and eight assists, Scholanda Hoston led the players coming off the bench with 13 points and Treynell Clavelle posted a career-high 10 points.
“When you get that kind of production from your kids off the bench we realize that our team is starting to come together,” LSU head coach Sue Gunter said. “The execution in the last twelve or so minutes of the game was just as good as when our starters where in the game.”
LSU shot 60.6 percent from the floor in the game, including 63.6 in the second half. The Lady Tigers’ defense was also solid, holding the Lady Lions (3-3) to 31.4 percent shooting and forcing them into 27 turnovers.
Tish Guy led SLU with 11 points.
LSU had the margin in rebounding as well, pulling down 40 boards to SLU’s 25. Wendlyn Jones led the way with seven boards for LSU.
The Lady Tigers host Temple on Monday night at 7 p.m. in the final game of the current home stand. Monday’s game will feature a free 8×10 color print of Augustus and Johnson in their USA Basketball uniform to the first 1,500 fans in attendance and the players will be available following the game to autograph the print. The duo will also be honored prior to the game for their accomplishments on Team USA this past summer.
