BATON ROUGE — The honors for LSU’s second-ranked football team continued to roll in on Friday as three more Tigers were named First Team All-Americas by ESPN.com.

Defensive tackle Chad Lavalais, offensive guard Stephen Peterman and return specialist Skyler Green were all honored as first team picks by ESPN.com.

Lavalais, a senior from Marksville, La., has been named to numerous All-America teams and was a finalists for both the Outland Trophy and the Nagurski Award. Lavalais was the anchor of an LSU defense that was considered the best in the nation.

ESPN.com said,”Lavalais displayed a hard-driving motor and a lot of power on the inside, which helps explain why LSU led the SEC in rushing defense and led the nation in fewest rushing touchdowns allowed (3).

Peterman, a three-year starter on the Tiger offensive line, helped pave the way for an LSU offense that averaged 426.5 yards per game, including 187.8 on the ground.

Green bursts onto the scene as the nation’s premiere punt returner, averaging a national-best 19.8 yards on 22 punt returns. Green, who returned two punts for touchdowns, also ranked among LSU’s best at catching the football as he had 46 receptions for 496 yards and five touchdowns in 2003.
