HOUSTON — The Lady Tigers finished their first tournament of the fall season Sunday with three wins in the Rice Tennis Classic, including one bracket winner.
LSU’s Camila Caliari won the gray singles bracket with a 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 win over Karen Chao of Rice.
“I’m very proud of Camila,” said LSU head coach Tony Minnis. “She was down in the third set and fought back for a win. It’s really good that she won a tournament in this point in the season. It will give her some confidence.”
Lauren Seaman won her match in the gray singles consolation bracket over Yale’s Ashley Martin, 6-3, 7-5. Bonnie White lost to Ana Paula Soto of Texas-San Antonio in the finals of the consolation bracket, 6-2, 6-3.
Caliari picked up another win with the help of teammate Daysi Espinal in the blue doubles consolation. The pair beat Blair DiSesa and Tracy Chong of Rice. Seaman and partner Marina Chiarelli beat UTSA’s Tasja Fuhrig and Chantal Lessar.
The Lady Tigers will travel to Bloomington, Ind. next weekend for the Hoosier Classic Invitational.
