MONACO — Walter Davis, the most decorated man in Tiger track history, headlined a group of former LSU track and field stars that completed the outdoor season with outstanding performances at the IAAF World Athletics Final over the weekend.

Competing in his signature event, the triple jump, Davis won silver with a leap of 56-1. He finished second only to the world leader in the event, Sweden’s Christian Olsson, who recorded a meet-winning mark of 57-7.

On the track, former Tiger All-American Alleyne Francique also finished in the medal count, taking home bronze in the 400 meters with a time of 45.25.

Francique nearly edged out Jamaica’s Michael Blackwood for second, but timing down to the hundredth of the second landed Francique the bronze. The United States’ Jerome Young won the event with a mark of 45.04.

On the women’s side, former Lady Tiger Laverne Eve just missed medalling, placing fourth in the javelin with a toss of 203-9.
