SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic — LSU quarter-miler Hazelann Regis led a quartet of current and former LSU track stars who turned in impressive performances at the Pan-American Games Friday evening.
Regis, a senior on the Lady Tigers’ national championship team, won silver in the 400 meters, posting a time of 51.56. She finished just behind Mexico’s Ana Guevara who recorded a meet-winning mark of 50.36.
Also medalling at the championships were former Tigers Russ Buller and Alleyne Francique. Buller turned a second-place finish in the pole vault competition, clearing a height of 17-8 1/2, while Francique took home bronze in the open quarter with his time of 45.51.
Just missing the medal count was former Lady Tiger Suzette Lee. Lee, an NCAA champion in the triple jump while at LSU, finished fourth in the event with a jump of 45-4 1/2.
